Experience

I am a researcher with over 13 years experience in research and research supervision. My discipline background is in information systems, with a specialisation in digital development and civic technology.

I have supervised postgraduate students at both masters and doctoral level in Africa and Europe. As a former educator in the higher education sector I have an experiential understanding of the challenges students face and am able to empathise with them. I have coordinated masters and PhD programmes and have engaged extensively with students from various backgrounds with diverse challenges in their research journeys.

Using a practice-based approach to research, I have focused on developing and facilitating an enabling environment for digital citizen engagement strategy formulation, responsible innovation, and user experience (UX) design. I am the Director of the MobiSAM project, which has been implemented in South Africa - a sister project that is continuously developing is the MobiSAfAIDS project, implemented in 6 Southern African countries.

You may learn more about my projects by visiting my research profile.
